Last week on Thursday I had the ability to go to Galveston’s Own Farmers Market!
On Thursdays they are located at Menard Park (2222 28th Street) from 3-6pm. On Sundays they are located at 2508 Postoffice Street from 9am-1pm. Vendors are from the Galveston area and sell organic fruits, vegetables, eggs, cakes, bread, tea, coffee, etc. Buying local is very important for the community to support them financially, helps keep the environment clean, they have non-GMO foods and all around supports health and wealth. I am grateful to have finally gone and met locals who make/grow their own fresh produce.
I wanted to mention a couple individuals that I met who were exceptional. Cynnara was selling her organic herbal tea blends for her company Galveston Island Moringa. She was really nice to talk to and I bought the “Moringa Tulsi” organic tea. It is a very calming drink before bed.
Wayne was selling coffee beans for his company the Local Roast Co., which makes special blend coffee roasts. To contact him: email@example.com. He immediately made me feel welcomed by telling me what the Farmers Market is all about and his back story about reinventing his life by creating his own business.
The market accepts food stamps and Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program benefits, which support folks in the community not as well off.
I encourage all of you in the Galveston area to check out the market and support the local community. If you are not in the area but would like to support them please click this link http://www.galvestonsownfarmersmarket.com/donate-1/ to donate.
